Personality Coaching in Pro-Sports

January 12, 2012

Article by Manfred Kramer

Coaches and players are often the opinion that motivation, talent and plenty of training, as well as luck, suffice to bring out the best of the players and the game. They all pursue one goal and put forth all effort to move up the league point by point, but mostly to prevent loss.

Since coaches and representatives of a club concentrate mostly on the standards of the players, the strength of the team is often limited. There follow experiments such as more intensive training sessions and exchange programs to make up the weaknesses in the team positions.  The playing capacity of the players is thus limited and is reflected in expressions like: “We have given our best today!” There is still the prevalent notion that purely mechanized training and positive attitude result in the highest performance.

Many professional clubs have a psychology team to support the players. The methods used are mostly outdated, ineffective and/or are based on cognitive motivation. That means that the player is kept stable with anti-stress and concentration exercises. Reality, however, shows that quite a few players experience burn-out or just too much strain because they are exposed to the constant pressure to perform better and better.

What is needed?

The fundamental issue here is that many do not realize the effects of the “Thought-Reality” of the player. That means that to be motivated and determined is not enough and is far from having the consciousness of a winner. Certainly, motivation is an important factor within a game. However, it is much more important to have a clear concept who one is and what one can accomplish. This is not just a theory but has been often proven by many studies of consciousness research. Consciousness is by far superior to motivation and determination. We can say that motivation is a result of consciousness. And we can be convinced that ‘Consciousness Creates Reality’. Clear consciousness about oneself and one’s abilities creates control.

The Consciousness of Winning and Invincibility

In recent years, great discoveries have been made in the area of Consciousness Research that are important in professional sports and are especially useful. If, for example, a player would be able to create the condition of motivation by himself, instead of being administered exteriorly through affirmations or hypnosis, the results in the actual game would be tremendous.

We’ll go even further: If the team would be able to conjure up the consciousness of the ‘Thought Reality’ of invincibility, success would be inevitably pre-programmed.

This kind of ‘Thinking’ will have great impact on the growth process of the daily training sessions. Hence, effective tactics and strategies can be worked out that can be understood and used by the players. Additionally, the level of responsibility of each player and of the entire team will be raised and sharpened.

Unfortunately, many psychology teams of a professional team work with outdated and old technologies that sometimes even hinder the application of effective and innovative methods. Who really wants to change things that have been around  for many years?

The time has come to boost the talents of the players to top performance with highly effective ‘Consciousness Coaching’. Also the trainer of team does well to direct his consciousness towards victory and grow mentally with his team.

How is Consciousness directed towards Invincibility and Victory?

In our 20 years of experience as Coaches, we can say the following: Nothing will be changed, when the consciousness that has created the problems in the first place is not changed! Or, as Albert Einstein has said: “Problems can never be changed with the same thought structure that created the problems”.

With ‘Thought Structure’ (Consciousness), we mean not the single thought, but the entire mental perception of a human towards reality. That wrong thought structures cannot change with affirmations and motivational exercises is obvious, and it would be naïve and incompetent to assume just that.

Through our many years of experience as LiftYourLife Coaches, we developed the enormously effective and uncomplicated “Shift Consciousness Coaching” (S.C.C.), that is absolutely unique in its kind. The results are testimony to that fact. We work very successfully with professionals whose performance increased tremendously after their coaching sessions. We speak of lasting improvements of performance of 70 to 90%; and this after only 2 or 3 coaching sessions according to S.S.C. .

We have often the observed how professional players are impeded by intense doubt and fear. The problem is often compounded because they influence and hamper the enthusiasm of the entire team and its team play. Otherwise the player could change his consciousness towards victory and so not only be able to recognize his potential but also direct it towards victory.

The LiftYourLife “Shift Consciousness Coaching (S.C.C.) is absolutely unique and demands a high level of competence of the coach in order to be able to estimate the requirements of each client.

Not only professional players in sports have benefited from S.C.C., but also actors and business professionals, as well as the average person; they all were able to increase their level of performance dramatically – and we still speak of only 2 to 3 coaching sessions.
